Criteria

All schools that seek Membership in the MFIS must meet the listed criteria, be in agreement with the Mission Statement and support the Goals and Objectives of the MFIS Inc.

Membership Criteria for All Schools

  • must make application for membership in writing
  • must be located in the Provinces of Manitoba.
  • must not operate for profit
  • must pay fees annually by December 31.
  • must meet all legislative and regulatory requirements.

MISSION STATEMENT

The federation’s mission is to represent the interests and concerns of its member schools.  The MFIS seeks to accomplish this by meeting periodically with Manitoba Education and Training with respect to legislative, regulatory, curricular and financial matters.

OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  •  Make known to the public the rightful place and responsibility of independent schools within a democratic and pluralistic society.
  • Support, encourage, and strengthen the educational mosaic in the Province of Manitoba.
  •  Cooperate with Manitoba Education and Training and with other educational stakeholders with respect to issues of mutual concerns.
  • Represent our member schools either individually or collectively on matters of mutual concern with Manitoba Education and Training.
  • Support and encourage independent schools to comply with the approved provincial curriculum and the use of qualified/certified teachers
