Susan has been involved with MFIS since 2001 assuming the position of Executive Director in November of 2005.  Since this time the role and responsibilities have changed and expanded.  She considers it a privilege to work with the many skilled and talented staff of the Funded Independent Schools of Manitoba.

Susan came to her position with MFIS with over twenty-five years of experience in Independent Schools in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.  Her desire has been to see education affect the whole child so they can move confidently toward their potential.

Susan has volunteered with her church in areas including Parenting, Children’s Programs, and supporting those in Grief.  She has been privileged to volunteer in schools, churches and in other countries.

In addition, Susan takes pleasure in family life with an ever increasing number of seats at the family dinner table.

Susan’s areas of responsibility for MFIS include:

  • Providing leadership, direction and support for the MFIS and its member schools
  • Developing a profile and relationship for MFIS with;
    • Provincial officials
    • Member schools
    • Staff from Department of Education
    • Other Organizations
  • Promoting independent education
  • Oversight of the administration of the Federal French grants;
  • Facilitating Professional Development Opportunities
  • Maintaining MFIS archives;

Tannis Scott – MFIS Administrative Assistant

Tannis Scott comes to the MFIS administrative team having had many years of leadership and administrative involvement in a variety of church and community based organizations.  She has been with MFIS since the fall of 2008.  As a graduate from and a parent in independent schools in Manitoba, Tannis knows the value of quality independent school education.

Tannis’ areas of responsibility for MFIS include:

  • Accounts Receivable/Invoicing
  • Event/Conference planning
  • Assisting with French Grant Applications
  • MFIS Website content management
